my brother lives with my mother in an apartment is today in Iraq, he gave me the power to make the payment, while it is abroad, the owner refused to take my check becoz I do not live here, but insist that my mother should be to make payment. I had the proxy that I can make a payment for my brother.anyone have this similar problem?

If you indicate that you are authorized to make payment your name, then the landlord is obliged to accept the check. Since you are paying in good faith, the landlord can not sue for non-payment of the obligation.
